CNPC VP: Dependence On Energy Imports Shifting From West To East

Dependence on energy imports is shifting from west to east as oil production grows in the Americas and oil demand soars in Asia, said Wang Dongjin, vice president of China National Petroleum Corp. Wednesday.
The Americas will be self sufficient in energy production by 2030 because of new resources like shale oil and gas, but China's dependence on imported oil will keep growing, Mr. Wang said.
For this reason, China will deepen its relationship with countries in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, both as a customer for their oil exports and a partner in investment at home and abroad, he said.
